The gray color in Wedgwood‘s Queensware was introduced in the late 18th century, around the 1770s. This color was developed as part of Josiah Wedgwood‘s ongoing innovations in ceramics, aiming to create pieces that mimicked the appearance of more expensive stoneware and porcelain. The gray variant became popular for its subtle elegance and versatility, beautifully complementing the original creamy white Queensware while expanding the range of styles available.

This is a truly rare item. The gray color is quite hard to find these days, and the exquisite 'Shell Edge' design is even more difficult to come by. It is a unique and precious find for passionate collectors.
