ABOUT THE TURTLE SHIP

The Geobukseon was designed by Admiral Yi Sun-sin
during the Joseon Dynasty.
Its iron-spiked roof prevented enemy soldiers
from boarding the ship,
while its dragon-head bow fired cannons
to intimidate and destroy enemy fleets.
It operated on three levels —
for rowing, storage, and combat —
making it one of the most advanced warships
of its time.
